Eucharistic congress is long overdue
Eucharistic adoration has been gaining momentum in many parishes throughout the country in recent times.
Many Catholic churches have even had new Blessed Sacrament chapels annexed onto existing church buildings, so great has been the demand, and millions were moved toward an expression of spiritual solidarity during the visit of St Therese’s relics to our shores.
Surely, a congress to honour the King of Kings would draw on our collective spiritual psyche.
For those of us who can remember what it was like to be a Catholic in Ireland before and after Vatican II, the main concern must be the handing on of the faith to the next generation.
Even in a pluralistic and secular society such as ours, Catholics should not be ashamed to express their faith by the holding of a Eucharistic congress.
