Unionists should be ashamed of themselves

I DISAGREE with Fr Alex Reid’s statement at Fitzroy Presbyterian church when he stated that Catholics were “treated almost like animals by the unionist community”.

If unionists treated their animals in the same manner that some of them treated Catholics, they would have been prosecuted by the RSPCA for cruelty. I agree with Fr Reid’s other statement that “the unionist community should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for their treatment of Catholics for over 60 years”.

Undoubtedly, it was this odious treatment by some elements of unionism which was instrumental in creating the Provisionals and the resultant 30-year war.
