Immigrants used as a political smokescreen

NOW that the referendum has been passed, would it be too much to ask politicians and would-be politicians please to stop using race and immigration as a smokescreen for broken promises and failed (or non-existent) policies?

Similarly, would the media in future please treat immigrants and immigration-related matters in a more honest and professional manner?
