Mixed reception for local radio stations

I AM compelled to express my views on how the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) exercises its function in regulating local radio.

The BCI has visited Limerick more than once to close down unofficial stations. On its most recent visit, they closed Radio Limerick One, Galtee, Estuary and Easy FM.

These are stations that are listened to by thousands of ordinary citizens who simply want to hear music of their choice, local banter, or a neighbour playing a tune, reciting a poem or singing a song.
