Woman whose name endures in glass

I AM appealing for help from any readers who may have information on Mary Carter of Grafton Street, Dublin, who sold glass and china there between 1782 and 1788.

She bought glass from at least two sources Belfast and Cork.

Her name is often impressed on the bottom of the piece 'Mary Carter & Son 80 Grafton St Dublin.' Her pieces can be plain or decorated with nautical themes. Act of Union motifs or the toast "The Land We Live In" may also be engraved on them.
