Culture of secrecy still rules adoption policy

As a nation we are very conscious of identity while at the same time we fail to let many of our citizens know who they really are.

The adoption acts do not specifically deny people access to their original birth certificates, but the state operates a policy driven by religious institutions who have given their word not to divulge parent-child information.
