MANY people have been complaining about The Corrs accepting an honorary MBE. They should get over it.

The award is honorary in the case of non-British citizens, so it recognises different nationalities. The imperial connection is just a relic of history and only bothers a few bigots who can’t move on. Many of these misguided people see no contradiction in supporting English football teams.

We should be delighted that Britain recognises the charitable efforts of The Corrs.
