No longer my hero

I FIND it hugely ironic that Nelson Mandela was one of two world famous figures chosen officially to open the Special Olympics.

I admired him for the sacrifices he made for his own downtrodden people for so many years. But it was a great shock to learn some years back that the then President Mandela favoured abortion in South Africa as a human right.

How many of the people who rejoiced in and worked for these memorable Games are at the same time pro-abortion? I think the two positions are totally irreconcilable.
