THOUSANDS of Irish people visit Spain every summer for the sun, sea, sangria and golf.

However, it seems pointless trying to tell them about the country’s culture, that it, too, had a Celtic presence, that its food is not only based on paella, or that it is full of leafy forests and snowy mountains. They won’t believe you. They just see beaches and golf courses. Believe me, there is more to Spain than its Mediterranean coast. It’s a pity so many Irish don’t realise it.
