Capital offence against nature
O’Connell Street has little else to recommend it nowadays except the mature trees - what with all the fast food restaurants and mobile phone shops, there is scarcely a decent building, apart from Clerys, the Gresham Hotel and one or two more.
To my mind they are lovely, well shaped trees which were not vandalised in their youth.
If farmers undertook such a scheme on a country road they would be hounded and, no doubt, fined.
