The context was the possible curtailment of postal deliveries to the doors of suburban residences. My attitude to contributing towards the cost of post boxes at garden gates was also canvassed.

I replied that the public were already paying enough for a service with erratic delivery times. I think we are being softened up for dearer stamps and another increase in the cost of living.
