The stoning of a man by all those pure of heart

THE Sermon on the Mount took on a surreal twist when the pure of heart – top cops, journalists and pop psychologists among them – took to stoning Tim Allen for his sins.

Not for his crimes, mind you but for not suffering enough for his deeds dastardly though they were. Even the judge showed more humanity, and not a little mercy.

Legally, the chef did the right thing by pleading guilty to downloading the appalling images Morally, he took the blame. He expressed his self-disgust and apologised, not trying to excuse the inexcusable or the unconscionable.
