Why just pick on the farmers?

However, the challenge to IFA on grain imports and the embargoes on groups of farmers and agri-industries who combine to promote their commercial interests prove that such 'collective' activities are now regarded as a mortal by the Authority, at the misguided behest of the Tánaiste and friends, including EU Commissioner David Byrne.

If it is intended to maintain this philosophy, then revision of other hitherto acceptable practices must follow.

On the assumption that equality among all citizens is sine qua non, then the same 'mortal sin' status must apply now to teachers, nurses and gardaí who combine to promote their objectives, while the entire trade union movement SIPTU, Mandate, ICTU must be off-side, too. Liam Cashman,
