THE Sinn Féin press officer, Michael Nolan, now sitting pretty in Leinster House, must be aware that his party is carrying substantially more baggage than either Labour or Fine Gael — even without the sartorially challenged dress uniforms of the IRA being taken into the equation.

And issuing communiqués (Irish Examiner letters, August 30) from the heart of government on Dáil stationery hardly qualifies anyone to brand others derisively as establishment figures.

The real fun will start, however, when Eddie Hobbs (or another Frank Hall figure) does a hatchet job on the revolutionary credentials of the Provisional IRA, with an inventory of dead bodies, arms shipments, bank robberies and money laundering, with more than a nod-and-a-wink in the direction of senior Sinn Féin figures.
