€45m better spent on care of young and old
The cost of introducing this new voting mechanism and the accompanying awareness campaign will be at least €45 million.
In times of great need, which many sectors of our society are experiencing at present, is this a necessary expenditure? As a candidate in next year’s local elections I would be prepared to forego this unnecessary expenditure in favour of the €45 million being reallocated to a more needy cause.
Who would object to that sum being reallocated to the Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, to greater care of the elderly or to supporting the much under-funded youth services nationwide?
