Forgotten victims
Unlike victims of 9/11 or the war in Iraq, the Pope died of natural causes. Why was there no national day of mourning for them?
The Pope was part of an institution that has condemned the use of contraception even for people with AIDS and covered up that most abhorrent of crimes, child sex abuse.
I am not saying the Pope should not have been mourned. As a Catholic I respect the right of my co-religionists to mourn, but we should also be mourning the victims of terrorists or unjust wars.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has been attacked for not having a national day of mourning but what would be the point?
