I WAS in Dorchester prison in England recently to see where my late father was interned during the War of Independence.

While there I met a member of the prison staff who is a nephew of Capt Jack O’Connell, the only survivor of the Clonmult ambush, near Dungourney, in 1920.

He has lost touch with his family and I volunteered to seek information on his uncle.
