Bottom line

UNIONS and employer representatives should insist that any pay deal will also be binding on our politicians who, after all, are supposed to show leadership in difficult circumstances.

If nothing else, it will ensure that those who preach and enforce belt-tightening and fiscal discipline on the public at large experience a little of it themselves.
