Scandalous neglect of our most vulnerable

THE continuing debacle relating to the illegal charges levied for years on residents of long-stay community hospitals/nursing homes exposes, on an almost daily basis, the hypocrisy of so many of our political parties and Oireachtas members.

Fianna Fáil, which for long proclaimed itself the champion of the ordinary person, has turned its back on the most vulnerable.

They have, without any show of dissent or concern, supported Health Minister Mary Harney’s insulting and disingenuous decision to return a tiny portion of what has been stolen.
