Who paid for this show?

HAVE we all gone mad?

Who paid for this show?

In these times of austerity we read (Irish Examiner, Nov. 11) that the Irish naval vessel Aisling was taken on a junket around Cork harbour with some of the cast of HMS Pinafore and a selection of local notables to advertise the show at the Opera House. Who authorised this?

How much did it cost the taxpayer, and with what return? Perhaps Defence Minister Michael Smith, if he can spare the time from his electioneering, will let us know.

As WS Gilbert would have penned: “A paradox, a paradox, a most unseeming paradox.”
