Bishops were right about Browne scheme

RYLE DWYER bemoans the “long shadow of the hierarchy over Government Buildings” (Irish Examiner, Nov 1).

He is wrong; it is a demonic shadow that is over us, threatening to destroy us. I thought that everyone had a right to make representations to the Government on matters important to them it seems Mr Dwyer would like to deny the bishops this right.

The bishops at the time were right to oppose Noel Browne's health scheme.
