Bertie’s burner lit by his political agents

THE chairperson of CHASE, Mary O’Leary (Irish Examiner letters, November 18) correctly said that the job of John Ahern of Indaver Ireland is to sell incinerators and make huge profits for his overseas shareholders.

Bertie’s burner lit by his political agents

However, he could not have advanced his plans this far without the complicity of the Government who must take most of the blame. Not only did the planning appeals board choose to ignore planning inspector Philip Jones’s advice, but other relevant agencies of state appear to be similarly stacked with political appointments. In such circumstances objectivity is almost inevitably the first casualty. Is that not tantamount to an abuse of process?

The ill-founded Government policy of quick-fix or ‘lets burn the damn stuff and never mind the facts’ leaves the public exposed to the sinister and long-term effects of dioxins and furans or, in plain language, Agent Orange from Bertie’s burner.
