ON August 2, 2003, the Northern Ireland branch of the Submarine Association will be holding a dinner in Belfast to commemorate Operation Struggle on July 31, 1945, and the successful attack on the Japanese Cruiser Takao

For this action, leading seaman James Magennis was awarded the Victoria Cross.

Cmdr Ian Fraser VC, naval and civilian dignitaries and members of the Magennis family will be attending the dinner.
