Nurse's dilemma

I WAS amazed to read of Joyce Woods’ problem with An Bord Altranais and her efforts to become a registered nurse here (Irish Examiner, March 19).

Surely a British-registered nurse who successfully completes a professional practice course, and is once again registered in Britain, is eligible to take up work here.

Is it that An Bord Altranais does not trust the Nursing and Midwifery Council in Britain? It would be interesting to know if other nurses have, or have had, similar problems with registration.
