Swimpool means much more than money

It is now obvious that the financial loss of operating Douglas swimming pool in Cork is the main incentive for councillors to back the proposed public/private partnership merger.

Did anyone stop to think about the loss all current pool users will experience if this happens? What happens to the talented 14-year-old Sundays Well swimmer who can no longer get the training hours to reach her potential?

Try telling her that Cork Corporation is unwilling to sacrifice some money to help her, and hundreds of others, to achieve their goals. I am not disregarding the financial loss but simply urging councillors to focus on the wealth of enjoyment the people of their constituencies will receive.
