Doctors condemn GM sweetcorn decision

THE Irish Doctors’ Environmental Association unreservedly condemns the decision of the Government to back moves to allow genetically engineered sweetcorn to be imported into the EU.

There have been no tests carried out on humans to determine the safety of genetically engineered food, and tests on animals have given rise to concern.

Furthermore, there is no system in place to determine whether or not people may be suffering adverse health effects. We have been told that there are no adverse health effects from genetically engineered food. The truth is that nobody is looking.
