No ground control in airport queue free-for-all

BEING a frequent traveller to, and a native of, Ireland living in the US, I have the opportunity also to travel to Japan, Singapore, Israel and Italy for work and personal reasons.

No ground control in airport queue free-for-all

Of all the airports I pass through, Dublin is the most appalling.

Towards the end of March my family and I were leaving Ireland to return to the US from Dublin airport only to be greeted after checking in with the a queue that had taken on a life of its own. There were no airport personnel to manage the flow, direction or order of the queue.

People were stepping in all along the line with no regard for those who had arrived in a timely manner for flights or no regard for small children whose patience can be fraught at normal times, not just at six in the morning. Welcome to Ireland indeed. Upon arrival one is greeted with the most confusing set of upstairs/ downstairs and round-the-corner antics to make it from the aircraft to the luggage hall.

All ten flights that arrive at a particular time use only one luggage carousel while at least five or six others lie idle.

This type of behaviour in a supposedly modern country must leave a lasting impression on visitors and potential business investors.

Dublin airport should be a priority for improvement both for management and the Government.
