Putting the police record in perspective
His death, like all the others, was tragic.
However, before anyone gets too upset, it should be pointed out that he was a member of the same Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) who repeatedly and brutally attacked workers during the 1913 Lockout, including the infamous baton charge on O’Connell Street when Jim Larkin was addressing a rally during which two workers were murdered by the DMP of which this “unarmed” policeman was a member.
