Children without a country to call their own

THE citizenship referendum is a nauseating proposition because I believe if we pass it we could be rendering stateless children born of non-nationals in Ireland as their parents’ country or countries of origin may also not accept them as citizens.

Children without a country to call their own

We are also told that the proposed legislation apparently will exempt British citizens from the effects of the referendum.

We will then be discriminating in favour of Britain against the other EU states.

Will this be in breach of any of our EU treaties and leave open the possibility of other countries discriminating similarly?

Having listened to Government spokespersons I can only say: “Put a beggar on horseback and he will whip the beggar on foot.”
