Saddam must hand in his smoking gun

AS THE UN inspectors search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, the world anxiously awaits evidence of a ‘smoking gun.’
Saddam must hand in his smoking gun

A gun doesn’t smoke until after it is fired. Then the crime has been committed and the victim is dead! How many smoking guns are needed to be convinced that Saddam is willing to use whatever weapons he has against innocent people?

The invasion of Kuwait in 1990 was a smoking gun; so was Saddam’s subsequent slaughter of the Iraqi Kurds and the ongoing criminal suppression of the Shi’ite Muslims in Iraq.

Saddam’s cruelty is legendary. Every time he orders a political opponent assassinated, the gun smokes. When he tortures and mutilates defectors from his army, the gun smokes.

It is time to remove his smoking gun before it goes off in all our faces.
