More than a prank

AS a motorcyclist I was appalled at the garda reference to a ‘serious prank’ (Irish Examiner, February 7) when steel wire was tied across a road near Roscrea in Co Tipperary.

All that happened on this occasion was damage to a car. Can you imagine what would happen to a motorcyclist? Possible decapitation, or at least very serious injury. Some prank.

This is the same attitude that classes car theft as joyriding, even though many people have been killed by these thugs.

Of course, it takes a lot of time and effort to get a prosecution in cases like this. It takes no time at all to catch someone doing 55kmh in a 50 kmh zone.

No, it’s not sour grapes. I have no points yet.
