THE Irish print media disgraced themselves prior to the murder of Denis Donaldson.

First, certain newspapers recklessly revealed his whereabouts. Then, a magazine gleefully named him as ‘survivor of the year’ - just for being alive.

We are entitled to expect higher ethical standards from our press. Hence the urgent need for the new Press Council.
