I RECENTLY spent two months cruising in Ireland between Cork and Bantry Bay at the invitation of a skipper whose boat I previously owned.

I was overwhelmed by the friendliness and generosity of everyone I met in shops and pubs, on quays and buses and I would like to extend my thanks to members of the fishing community.

As a retired fisherman, I know that the relationship between working boats and yachtsmen is not always very cordial, due, in my opinion, to many yachtsmen's lack of understanding and consideration for those trying to earn their living at sea.
