IT is gratifying to note the total lack of success so far encountered by Dana in her tour of county councils seeking a presidential nomination.

A singer would be out of tune in the Áras

Fifty years ago her brand of ultra-conservative Catholicism would probably have seen her not just nominated but elected as well.

Today it is a complete turn-off for a large majority in this country - as was evidenced by her inability to retain her European seat.
