Every day we hear of incidents such as street violence, suicide and stealing linked to young people involved with alcohol. Over half of Ireland's young people have experimented with alcohol but are teenagers completely to blame?

For one of the smaller countries in Europe, Ireland has one of the highest increases in alcohol consumption in the EU. In Ireland, there is an acceptance of alcohol in society and it is seen as being central to our social activities. Irish people are proud of being the best drinkers in Europe. Guinness is seen as a national treasure, sometimes even perceived as the national symbol of Ireland.
