Will agreement limit teachers?
Well, this is part of what secondary school principals and deputy principals, who are members of the TUI, have signed up to in benchmarking (Benchmarking Report, p264 and p265).
Indeed, even TUI assistant principals, who are often year heads in secondary schools, have signed up to a situation where "There may be potential exposure for jobholders to abuse from pupils or even from parents" (p 266).
I wonder if signing up for this willingly will prevent them from ever being able to pursue legal action against their Board of Management or the Department of Education and Science if they do suffer abuse in the future.
