Welfare deductions must be fully repaid
The fact that such deductions have continued for 28 years despite a previous Supreme Court ruling is a sad reflection on successive governments and health boards.
It is incredible that during all that time, no-one in authority asked what the legal entitlements of a medical card holder were. It is hypocritical for the opposition to lay the blame solely on the present minister as they - Fine Gael and Labour - also served in government over those years.
