Phone offer was not so special

EIRCOM has been playing games with their customers for quite a while.

The letter from JD Fahy only confirms it (Irish Examiner, January 14). Unlike JD, my experience was triggered by actively seeking to return to Eircom as it offered a special rate of €39 for all national and local calls per month, including line rental.

Having ‘signed up’ (over the phone), I was assured all my calls were now with Eircom. Indeed, my next Eircom bill confirmed it.

I also assumed I could access the internet on regular local numbers (not the specialised 1890 numbers of course). It seems as if I was wrong on both accounts - no pun intended.
