SIPTU dues hike not the answer to inflation

RECENTLY I received notification that my unwanted but compulsory weekly membership contribution to SIPTU will rise from 3.20 to a whopping 3.70 — an increase of 13.51%.

SIPTU dues hike not the answer to inflation

I was under the impression that SIPTU was for lowering inflation and giving a fair deal to the working class and to society in general. Obviously SIPTU, like many organisations in this country, do not practice what they preach. If any other organisation tried to raise charges by 13.51%, SIPTU would create uproar. I wonder how sincere are SIPTU in their concern for the plight of workers living in the most expensive country in the euro zone.
