Head teacher holds d’Unbelievable view
Mr Cahill expressed the view that boys perform worse than girls in the junior cert because the Taoiseach is a poor “role model” with a fondness for “birds and beer“. Poor Bertie’s latest crime is that he is heterosexual and enjoys the odd beer.
That the leader of a major teachers’ union can speak as though using a script from d’Unbelievables is alarming.
If a bigoted priest (like myself) had expressed such a view, he would, quite rightly, be laughed off the pulpit. For a serious educationalist to utter such sentiments beggars belief.
What kind of “role model” would Mr Cahill have as Taoiseach, a teetotaller with a vow of perpetual virginity? I don’t see Enda Kenny or Pat Rabbitte embracing that idea with much enthusiasm.
