YOUR editorial of Saturday (September 13) quite rightly takes ASTI leader Pat Cahill to task for his outlandish performance on the Marion Finucane programme last week.

Mr Cahill expressed the view that boys perform worse than girls in the junior cert because the Taoiseach is a poor “role model” with a fondness for “birds and beer“. Poor Bertie’s latest crime is that he is heterosexual and enjoys the odd beer.

That the leader of a major teachers’ union can speak as though using a script from d’Unbelievables is alarming.
