IRA hold the key
That much is clear (Irish Examiner letters, April 11). Why he should, isn't.
If he was convicted as a member of an illegal organisation, then that organisation holds the key, literally.
The dastardly Jesuitical minds logjamming the release programme are not the courts or the political establishment which have frankly gone more than the extra mile but the likes of the IRA who still think they can bargain and haggle a better mileage allowance by holding onto their arms.
They simply cannot have it both ways. Nether can you, Colm.
As the Iraqi UN Ambassador told reporters yesterday, the game is up. Does the Irish Republican movement wish to save Colm O'Shea's skin, or that of their own military wing? I'll leave that to his imagination.
