I WAS pleasantly surprised to learn that George W Bush has actually heard of the Geneva Convention. He quoted it with reference to the US soldiers captured

Of course, the civilised world does acknowledge the Geneva Convention. In effect it states that all prisoner of war must be treated humanely. Accordingly, the US and Iraq must treat their prisoners in this way. Could I now appeal to Mr Bush to treat the Afghani prisoners in Guantanamo Bay prison in accordance with the Geneva Convention. They, too, are human beings. Seeing them shackled and blindfolded was a gross affront to civilised society.

One would have thought that these obscene images would have vanished with the defeat of the infamous Nazi regime.
