Cardinal has every right to be heard
He says the bishops "have no business in politics". He is entitled to his opinion, but there are many who would disagree with him.
Let me try to explain why.
In the current political climate, when the voice of Christian Ireland is no longer heard in the corridors of power, someone has to take steps to represent that voice. And who is better qualified to speak on our behalf than our beloved Cardinal Connell?
Catholics pay their taxes, too, Ryle. They are in the majority in this so-called democratic State of ours.
Yet that majority has no Dáil representative who has the moral courage to stand up to the proponents of the liberal agenda the source of most of our social ills today.
Does Ryle have so many bees in his bonnet about the past behaviour of the Church some, though not all justified that he cannot see the wood for the trees? Has he become so entrenched in the nation's past sins that he is blind to the evils of the present? Or could he possibly have another agenda?
