DO people not recognise the contradictions when they appeal for Government intervention in the Irish Ferries debacle.

Having it both ways

These same people complained about the nanny state in relation to the smoking ban, as well as other forms of so-called Government interference in our daily lives, but now that a private company decides to cut costs in a free market, they scream for the Government to step in.

Competition keeps prices low, and if people need the Government to protect them, then it is old-fashioned Russia they should be living in.
