Louis gets no stars for Games comments

I WISH to respond to the recent comments of the man famous for making people famous.

Louis Walsh was sharply criticised for saying that the Special Olympics now under way in Dublin “were not the kind of thing you want to watch on TV” and were “a big ego trip” for some of the organisers.

This from a man who thinks that belittling vulnerable young You’re A Star contestants makes for good TV.

Sadly, people watch this rubbish and the likes of Louis Walsh laugh all the way to the bank.

He can then afford to insult the good souls in our society who put in an incredible effort organising an event such as the Special Olympics.

Special needs children and adults deserve their time in the limelight; they’ve worked hard to get there and their parents and carers have worked hard to get them there.

This is a happy time for them and no one should be allowed to dampen their spirits, least of all Mr Walsh.
