Chemists urged to stock donor cards
This poster features 23-year-old Mary Hand from Dingle who is on the waiting list for a double lung transplant in Freeman’s Hospital in Newcastle, England.
The aim of this campaign is to create awareness, to educate and to encourage people to carry organ donor cards and maybe think how lucky they are not to have a life-threatening disease like cystic fibrosis, or indeed any illness that may at some stage lead to the necessity of a transplant.
Unfortunately, the majority of chemists’ shops we visited did not carry any organ donor card.
I would now like to ask them immediately to stock these cards as there is no excuse not to display them.
Huge amounts of money are made from people with long-term illnesses, so we are asking people to support those chemists who display the organ donor card’.
If the chemists who don’t display these cards could walk a mile in Mary’s shoes, perhaps their attitude would change.
