LATELY I read of the Government’s generous donation of €50 million to combat HIV in Mozambique - and yet we can’t afford minor surgery to treat a bleeding ulcer in Monaghan or undertake minor emergency surgery in Dundalk. Where is the logic?

Should the Government not start by sorting the problems nearer home before trying to solve those of Africa and the rest of the world?
