No one owes me free bed-and-board in old age

I WAS relieved to read Sheila Griffin’s letter headlined ‘What’s wrong with pensioners having to contribute towards their care’ (Irish Examiner, August 22).

For a long time I wondered if I was the only person in the country who believed no one - not even the State - owed me free bed-and-board in my dotage.
