Terrorists get the poll result they wanted

SPANISH voters have ousted America’s staunch ally in the war on terrorism and the liberation of Iraq, Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar.

This signals clearly to al-Qaida that their terror tactics can influence the comportment of sovereign states.

It’s now been clearly demonstrated that terrorism works in Europe, and the Islamist terror cells must be elated to know that they can count on the horrific brutality they inflict on large civilian populations to swing elections, and position heads of state who will promote their agenda behind the chimera of hard words while actually in retreat. It’s a sad day for freedom in western civilisation.

As Spain is now to set to embrace, in the words of its newly elected Prime Minister José Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, a ‘magnificent’ relationship with France and Germany, al-Qaida has also successfully driven a wide wedge between the EU and the US.

The terrorist thugs get two major notches in their belts for the hell they brought down on the Spanish people. America’s isolation by mainland Europe is complete.

Sadly, Spain has caved in on all of us. It’s three home runs for the Islamists, and another strike-out for democracy.
