Mothers’ role

MARY T CLEARY (Irish Examiner, January 17) claims that fatherless children lack discipline as a result of the absence of a male figure in their lives.

Is it not a little sexist to suggest that mothers are not equally capable of instilling discipline in their children?

As we claim to live in a society that recognises the equal status and ability of women, this statement is outrageous.
